Interactive floor plan

The interactive floor plan is consistently one of the most-used screens in any event app — people open it with a concrete intent ("where is this exhibitor?"), which makes it valuable territory for both service and revenue. On the service side, it converts a disorienting hall into something searchable; on the revenue side, map prominence is sellable inventory: highlighted stands, sponsored pins, and category filters that surface premium exhibitors are established upsells that exhibitors understand instinctively, because visibility on the map translates to footfall. In practice, the hard part isn't the software, it's the data pipeline: the floor plan is only as good as its sync with the actual floor, and trade show floors change until days before opening — stands split, exhibitors cancel, walls move. A plan drawn from the CAD file two months out and never updated will send attendees to empty stands. The organizations that do this well connect the interactive map to the same source of truth the floor sales team uses, so a sold or moved stand updates everywhere at once. The common mistake is treating the app map and the operations map as two separate documents maintained by two teams. One honest nuance: "get directions" features vary from genuine routing to a straight line drawn across the hall through three walls — test the routing on the real layout before promoting it as wayfinding.
