The tradeshow dictionary
UFI-approved event is a trade fair that has met the certification standards of UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry — including independently audited attendance and exhibition statistics and a meaningful international share of exhibitors or visitors. The label signals a verified, internationally significant show.
Unconference is a participant-driven event format in which the agenda is built on the day by attendees themselves, who propose sessions, vote on topics, and self-organize into discussions. Instead of a programmed lineup of speakers, the organizer provides structure, space, and facilitation, and the audience supplies the content.
Unified event data is all of an event's information — registrations, exhibitor records, session attendance, meetings, and past editions — connected in one place under a shared structure. Instead of separate tools each holding a slice, organizers get a single view of every person and company that touches the show, matched and deduplicated.
Utilities ordering (booth power and internet) is the process by which exhibitors order booth services — electrical connections, wired internet, water, and compressed air — from the venue or its exclusive contractor before the show. Orders specify load, drop location, and timing, with steep surcharges for late or on-site requests.
UTM tracking (event marketing) is the practice of appending standard parameters — source, medium, campaign, content — to every link an event team shares, so analytics tools can attribute each registration to the channel and campaign that drove it. It's the basic instrumentation that makes event marketing spend measurable.
