Commercially, the lounge is also quietly valuable as neutral ground where your PR team overhears what stories are forming and can shape them while they're still forming. The common mistake is building the lounge and staffing it with nobody — a room of empty chairs and stale pastries that journalists visit once. One honest nuance: sponsors will offer to fund the lounge in exchange for branding, which is fine, but press notice quickly when the "media lounge" is really a sponsor's pitch environment, and they stop coming.
