Agent handoff
Definition
Agent handoff is the transfer of a task from an AI agent to a human (or another agent) when confidence is low, policy requires approval, or the job exceeds scope.
Clean handoffs preserve context so humans do not restart from zero. Ambiguous handoffs create dropped leads. Measure handoff rate as a product health signal.
